The 2nd Annual Race for Reseach will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles. Last year's inaugural race was a huge success with over 440 participants, the LA Kings mascot, Bailey and energetic runners from all over the Los Angeles area. Together, we were able to donate $17,000 to UCLA's Department of Neurosurgery for Dr. Liau's promising brain tumor vaccine research.

This year the Heroes of Hope 5K/10K and Kid's fun run will take place on World Run Day. World Run Day is a running event that has been held annually in November for the past decade. It is a day to celebrate running and charitable giving, and is recognized as both the International Day of Running and the International Day of Charity. In the spirit of this day we hope your charitable donation will go toward our cause.

This year funds generated will be distributed to several California brain tumor research visionaries including Dr. Liau's team at UCLA and Dr. Jonathan Finlay's team. Dr. Finlay is the director of the Neural Tumors Program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, and professor of pediatrics, neurology and neurosurgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

There will be celebrity appearances, food and fun for kids.

New this year: one hardworking team will be awarded the Rivals United in Hope Cup (RUH) for the greated dollars generated, while one team will receive the other Rivals United in Hope Cup for the team with the greatest number of participants!
